Frederick Buechner Awards

Preaching & Writing

In partnership with the Frederick Buechner Center (frederickbuechner.com), TTGU has established cash awards to encourage students who are committed to excellence in preaching and writing. The Preaching Award, given to one English-program student and one Korean-program student every semester, recognizes excellence in preaching, both in content and delivery. The Writing Award, also given to one student in both the English and Korean programs every semester, honors those who strive for excellence in writing and written communication through an essay on a different topic each semester. Both a panel of student peers and a panel of faculty members will judge all submissions. The four awards will be presented to the selected students on the last joint chapel of each semester. The award amount is 250,000 won each and the Frederick Buechner Center provides an award plaque to all recipients.

Qualifications, Procedures, and Deadlines:

1. Qualifications and Deadlines:

Ø Current student in any master’s level program who has not received the same award before.

Ø Submissions are divided by language program; English program students to the English award; Korean program to the Korean award. All submissions must be in the language of your program.

2. Procedures & Submissions

Ø Writing Award: Submit a well-crafted essay of between 500 to 1000 words on the topic of PRAYER (Fall 2015 topic).

Ø Preaching Award: Submit a 10 minute video and sermon manuscript; video may be smartphone-made, either in a live setting (church, class, etc.) or in a setting without an audience.

Ø All submissions must be sent to TTGUStudentAwards@gmail.com by May 15th (Spring semesters) or November 15th (Fall semesters).

3. A Student Council panel reviews submissions and recommends three top candidates to the faculty panel. The faculty panel decides on one winner for each award.

4. The FB Awards will be presented to the selected students at the last joint chapel of each semester.

Frederick Buechner Awards-설교 및 글쓰기 대회

횃불트리니티신학대학원대학교는 Frederick Buechner Center(frederickbuechner.com)의 협찬으로 학생들이 설교와 원고작성의 탁월성을 추구하도록 격려하기 위해 수상 대회를 마련하였습니다.

설교 분야는 영어 과정과 한국어 과정에서 각각 매 학기 1명의 학생을 선발하여 수상합니다. 무엇보다 설교의 내용 구성과 전달력을 평가합니다. 글쓰기 분야 역시 영어 과정과 한국어 과정에서 각각 매 학기 1명의 학생을 선발하여 수상합니다. 매 학기 다양한 주제를 선정하여 제시하고, 주제에 대해 형식에 맞춰 에세이를 작성하여 제출하시면 됩니다. 글쓰기 평가의 주안점은 글을 통해 전달하고자 하는 메시지가 명확히 전달되었는가를 평가합니다.

제출된 모든 설교영상과 에세이는 학생평가단과 교수평가단의 평가를 받게 됩니다. 시상은 매 학기 마지막 연합채플을 통해 4명의 수상자에게 수여됩니다. 모든 수상자에게는 상금25만원과, Frederick Buechner Center의 상패가 수여됩니다.

자격요건, 절차, 마감일:

1) 지원자격

a. 석사과정 재학생 중 동일한 수상경험이 없는 학생

b. 지원은 언어 과정별로 받습니다. 영어 과정 학생은 영어 과정으로, 한국어 과정 학생은 한국어 과정으로 지원합니다. 본인의 학위과정 언어로만 지원이 가능합니다.

2) 지원방법 및 마감일

a. Preaching Award (설교 분야): 10분의 설교 동영상과 설교 스크립트를 제출하십시요. 설교동영상은 스마트폰으로 촬영하거나, 혹은 교회나 강의실에서 녹화하여 제출합니다. 동영상 촬영시 청중은 배재합니다.

b. Writing Award (글쓰기 분야): 2015년 가을 주제인 ‘기도’에 관하여 500자 이상 1000자 이내의 잘 구성된 에세이를 제출하시면 됩니다.

c. 설교 동영상 및 에세이는 11월 15일까지 이메일 (TTGUStudentAwards@gmail.com)로 제출해 주십시오.

3) 학생평가단은 제출된 설교영상과 에세이를 1차 심사하고, 분야별 3개의 후보작을 선정하여 교수평가단에 전달합니다. 교수평가단은 최종 심사를 거쳐 수상자를 선발합니다.

4) 본 대회의 수상은 매학기 마지막 연합채플에서 진행됩니다.
