Position Overview

KLAS is seeking a passionate and qualified Latin teacher to join our faculty. This position is responsible for teaching Latin to students in Grades 5 through 12, cultivating a love for classical languages and connecting them to the rich tradition of Western thought, logic, and theology.

We are a classical Christian international school committed to academic excellence, biblical worldview integration, and character formation. The ideal candidate loves learning, delights in students, and understands the formative power of language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Latin using classical methodology (grammar, reading, translation, recitation)
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with classical education principles
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with the humanities and rhetoric departments to support interdisciplinary learning
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Classics, Latin, Classical Studies, or related field
  • Teaching experience in Latin (middle and/or high school level preferred)
  • Familiarity with or a willingness to learn classical Christian education philosophy
  • Fluent or near-fluent in English (instruction language is English)
  • Passion for working with students and nurturing both academic and spiritual growth
  • A practicing Christian actively involved in a local church

Preferred Qualities

  • Experience with classical texts (e.g., Wheelock’s Latin, Lingua Latina, or similar)
  • Strong classroom management and a joyful, engaging teaching presence
  • Flexibility to adapt lessons for a range of grade levels
  • International or cross-cultural teaching experience (a plus)
