Dear Students, Staff Members, and Faculty of TTGU,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. I trust you and your loved ones have had a peaceful summer season.

As we begin a new semester, I would like to express my gratitude to the Student Council leaders who have been diligently preparing for our upcoming school retreat with dedication and care. The theme of the retreat is “Let There Be Light,” based on 2 Corinthians 4:6. It will take place on Thursday, September 3rd, from 9:00 a,m, to 4:00 p.m. at Hayongjo Hall.

The retreat program will offer an enriching experience, featuring an opening worship service, prayer time, and small group sessions. Professor Steve Chang, Professor of New Testament at Torch Trinity Graduate University, will deliver the sermon during the worship service.

Please be reminded that retreat participation is mandatory for all MDiv, MTS, MA, and TSMS students, as it is a graduation requirement. To fulfill this requirement, you must attend at least 90% of the retreat in person. If you are unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances, you may submit an absence explanation along with supporting documents. In such cases, you can fulfill the graduation requirement by completing a substitute assignment, which will be provided after the retreat. Please note that reasons such as work, church ministry, residing in another region of Korea, or childcare will not be accepted as valid excuses.

For English Program students who are residing abroad for the current semester and are unable to come to Korea, online participation in the retreat will be available. Students who are temporarily abroad during the retreat due to short-term missions, travel, business trips, work, or other reasons are required to complete an alternative assignment instead.

While I have outlined these administrative requirements, the most important aspect of the retreat is that the TTGU community comes together to hear the Word, worship, pray, and fellowship. I hope that each of you will attend with a pure heart, seizing the opportunity to praise God together and connect with fellow students, faculty, and staff.

I look forward to seeing you at the retreat on September 3rd.
